Through the research needed to complete this project concerning mental health, I hope to learn new information about it and become more aware. I also hope to send a clear message to those watching the video about the ways people can help themselves and others for better mental health.
Intended Learning Outcome (s):
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
How I intend to reach the identified Learning Outcome(s)
LO5: A collaboration of short videos covering numerous mental health topics by students who may relate to them would create an effective message to those who watch the compilation.
LO6: Mental health is an issue that is very common in our daily lives which we sometimes neglect become of the stigma around it. This video will help give more awareness of it.
LO7: My topic, “acts of kindness towards yourself and others during corona crisis,” would highlight how one’s actions have a big impact on their mental health. Also, the idea of a group of students creating a mental health awareness video is a project that could help those who seek emotional support or are finding ways to help/support a friend, relative, etc.

Reflection
In my opinion, the video was a great initiative to raise awareness of the importance of mental health. This is important because mental health tends to be an avoided subject of discussion because of the stigma around it. Through this project, we hoped to help people understand that mental health is just as important as physical health and should be prioritized. My video consisted of ways a person can be kind to themselves and to others during the corona crisis, where many people are seen facing challenges that affect their moods, thoughts, and overall mental health. Most of the acts of kindness I mentioned were from my experience with dealing with mental health, like exercising and meditating frequently or engaging in my favorite hobbies. I was also inspired by online mental health resources while doing my research about the topic. Overall, the project helped clarify the different ways to be kind to myself and to others, and the importance of one's actions on others. Hopefully, this collaboration of videos will help others understand the importance of prioritizing mental health and actions that can be taken to do so, and elaborate on the idea that mental health is a subject that should be discussed rather than associated with danger or abnormality.
